Mental Health Nurse (RMN)

Job Summary

An established private mental health service in the Essex region is currently recruiting for a qualified Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join its clinical team. This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week within a professional and supportive care environment.

Main Duties of the Role

You will be part of a caring and dedicated multidisciplinary team focused on promoting patient wellbeing and recovery. The service follows an individualised care approach, using evidence-based therapies to support patients in building healthier, more stable futures.

In this role, you will contribute significantly to patient recovery by supporting the assessment, planning, and delivery of personalised care. You will carry out delegated clinical duties and routine care activities while ensuring patients are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver nursing care to a specific group of patients within an agreed care framework
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care in partnership with patients and their families or carers
  • Act as a named nurse, taking responsibility for coordinating individual care plans
  • Observe, monitor, and interact with patients to assess their condition and progress
  • Review and update nursing care plans regularly to reflect patient needs
  • Maintain accurate and professional clinical records
  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality outcomes

Person Specification

Essential Requirements:

Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current NMC registration

Minimum of 6–12 months post-registration clinical experience

Completion of a recognised preceptorship programme

Experience working within a mental health or learning disability setting

Good understanding of professional nursing standards and clinical practice

Evidence of ongoing professional development

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Positive, professional attitude and commitment to high-quality care

Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Additional Requirements

Enhanced DBS check required (covered by employer)

Must have valid UK professional registration

Must have the legal right to work in the UK
